Student reading in the libraryMetz Elementary School Library fosters the love of reading from the earliest form of board book to middle-grade fiction. The library is the heart of the school where learning and formal education collide with popular titles in order to spark creativity, deep thought, and where all the academic disciplines meet.

Exploration

Student using a computerThe library is a place of play and invention. Children are able to take what they have learned and what they love and tinker, create and engineer things based on their personal interests. With a diverse collection in both English and Spanish, the library caters to the personal interest of the students in order to support a love of reading.

Mrs. Bassimakopoulos - Metz Librarian

Mrs. BassimokopoulosThis is my eighth year in education and my second here at Metz. I have taught fourth grade, worked for the public library, middle school libraries, and even a school library in Russia. I have a Bachelor of Arts in History and Art History from the University of Texas at Austin, a Masters of Library and Information Sciences, and a teaching certificate. I love sharing my love of reading and plan to do so for years to come. I am excited to be the librarian of Metz Elementary School. What better job than to support children in their journey to lifelong readers, learners, and citizens!
